Guardsman leather wipes?
I was in Ace hardware the other day and noticed Gaurdsman leather and vinyl wipes in the auto section. They are designed for leather furniture surfaces (furniture being what Gaurdsman products focus on). I'm not sure how you can use the same thing for leather as well as vinyl but the back lists it uses natural oils and makes no mention of silicones or anything else that could be harmful to leather.
I'm going to give them a try considering Guardsman has always created quality furniture care products and they were only $6.00 for 36 wipes. Not only that, they have a very neutral, clean leathery smell as opposed to Lexol which has an unappealing stink to it.
I haven't used them yet and was wondering if anyone else has tried them?

have not tried them...
but want to make sure that you know that you really need two products for leather- one that cleans and a separate one that preserves.
i also agree with you that a leather preservative is not likely to do a great job of cleaning vinyl.

Ok, I used them yesterday and here's my thoughts:
Weird!......They don't leave any residue or buildup behind at all and the stuff dries streakless and transparent. Unlike other conditioners I've used like Lexol that leave a noticeable waxy residue that needs buffed off with a clean towel, these soak in quick and leave no buildup so therefore, no artificial shine or haze and no sticky steering wheel.
At first, I wasn't sure if they were actually doing anything since I keep my seats pretty well maintained and they looked pretty much the same after applying, but as soon as I sat down I felt the nice slippery, soft feeling you come to expect after using a conditioner. The stuff also smells great, more like leather than anything else I've used. As far as the vinyl thing is concerned, I didn't use it on any vinyl areas, but where I accidentally did touch, it dried with no trace, so no mess.
Only one thing I didn't like, the cloth used for the wipes left behind a very fine lint. Annoying, but it dusts off quickly with a microfiber towel. Also, it takes about two wipes per seat, but at 36 wipes for $6, it's still a good deal.
