Default Hard Water / Mineral deposit removal

Well, I noticed today that the sprinklers at my apartment complex has watered my trunk instead of the grass and now i have some hard water spots or mineral deposits. I am wondering if anyone knows of any products or procedures to remove it. I have heard that 100% pure white vinegar works, but i was wondering if anyone knows of any other process to remove them. Any help is much appreciated.

Try a 20% vinegar/water, straight vinegar is over kill. Then wash and re apply your protective layers of polish/wax.

Ian, I find that a regular car wash followed by drying with a leather chamois gets rid of any water spots that I have.

Why not try the vinegar first? I'd probably go with a 50/50 solution first. If that doesn't work, I'd then try it undiluted. And if that doesn't work, I'd resort to some old fashioned polishing. I have found that when mineral deposits have etched the paint (what Mike Phillips calls "type 2" water spots) the only real way to remove them is to polish the paint. It's easier to use a dual action polisher, but hand polishing might work, too. I have found Megs' Ultimate Compound to be very effective for water spots. Depending on your paint, you may or may not need to follow-up with a finishing polish.

Water spots are the bane of my black S2K.
