This may seem stupid but here it goes. Due to the poor quality of water that I have pumped into my house i get horrible water sports on my S when ever I wash it. I have to find every last one or it will crust itself on to the paint and I can not remove the stiff.

Well after watching several dealers mass wash cars they never seem to dry the car. It looks like they use DI water and just let it dry off al natural. Well I remeber that there way a wand or some such nonsense sold on TV about 4 years ago that would soften and strip the minerals out of the water. Well I would image from a chemical level it would work but do they make a product like this for the home consumer or what not or am I just cursed with crappy water. I figue I wash in the crappy water and then simply wash it down with the good water and help it dry a little with a miro fiber cloth.

 

There are no miraculous ways to go about it. If you have hard water, you're stuck with it unless you get a water softener.

I have to deal with hard water here as well. The best way to avoid hard water spots(from my experience) is to avoid washing the car in hot, direct sunlight and dry the car immediately after washing. I also wipe the car down with Zaino's gloss enhancer spray but you can use any good brand detailing sprays as well. This extra step wipes off any missed water spots and gives you a nice shine.

If you do have water spots, alittle vinegar mixed with water will take out spots. A claybar will work as well. But you need to polish/wax your car after the procedure since it strips them.

Well what I have done so far to get rid of them was was the car in dawn a few times. Then flush it with soft water from inside the house. Pull it into the garage and then dry completely then rewax with zymol or buffelo's milk.

I was hoping that there was a way for me not have to carry water from inside the house. I have seen the professional wands used and they work well but I never thought that I would need one. Anybody got a supplier.

 

I remember seeing the product on TV called the Ionizer that attaches to the water hose. I don't see it available anywhere on the web anymore. While washing the soap off of your car remove the nozzle and let the water stream the soap off the car with the natural water pressure. This will leave less water remaining on the car which will create less water spots. Also use a Clay Bar product such as Mother's, Meguiar's or Zaino to remove any dried up water spots.

 

I clayed my car for the first time last night but didn't have time to wash it afterwards. When I woke up, there was a lot of ugly runs that were presumably a combination of the clay residue and the Mother's detailer used to lubricate it (I bought the kit and that was what it recommended using).

After washing my baby again with Dawn today (twice) to get rid of all the residue and whatnot. I still have some spots. I did my washing at around 6:30 PM and dried it fairly quickly using a combination of my 100 MPH + leaf blower for most of it, and an Absorber for any water that didn't want to get blown out of the way.

This was all in preparation for my baby's first Zaino treatment, but now I don't know if I'm ready to start. Did I do something wrong while claying? (since you recommend using a claybar for water spots) Should I just use some Quik Detail or Z6 to try and wipe up the drops?
