Default help with neighborhood cats

Hi,

I wasn't sure where to post this, but figured you guys would understand better than most. After spending time effort polishing, waxing, etc, I've found that a neighborhood cat has been walking all over and sitting on my car. I can see the paw prints as well as paw sliding marks on my plastic rear and front windshield. Question is how the hell do I keep them off my car...

Would the following work?

http://www.petronic.com/tattletale.htm

http://www.scatmat.com/Products/CatStop/

http://www.fordogs.com/yhst-78385122.../catscram.html

or is the only option to get a car cover? This car is my daily, so I rather avoid the cover if I have other options... Thanks.

some interesting options you posted!

i would just cover the car, and you can use the cover in other places too...
i wonder why they are getting on your top- sometimes they like to sit on hoods or under engines when its warm there.

that is what I figured too... about the warm hood I mean, but they are definately getting on the top by looking at the tracks, and that is what worries me most. minor scratches on the hood/trunk can be polished off... a nice gash in the vinyl top is much more $$$... plus the neighbor isn't a jerk, so I don't want to cause a war over this.

The only other thing I can think of is they like the smell of 303 protectant on the top =).

I also just think they like the mirror-like reflectiveness of berlina black =(. stupid vane cats... when I didn't go detail crazy and the car wasn't as reflective I didn't have such cat love. fyi... klasse AIO and 2 layers of SG rocks on berlina black =).

regarding the car cover... I would rather dust/microfiber the car daily than cover it if I had a choice.

I just read something else that sounded interesting... know if paprika pepper can damage the paint or remove wax/sealant?

interesting question about paprika- dont know the answer to that...
i would not put it on the paint- how about putting it in some sorta cloth bags (so the smell gets out) and hang them around the car?

since the cat is going on the top, maybe it does like the 303... you could try raggtopp or vinylex next time.

dusting/ mf will get the paw prints off, but wont get the swirls and light scratches (as you probably know). i use my car cover every day (its on the car now and the car is in the garage). have had paw prints on the cover before with no effect on the car. imo, covering is a lot less work than polishing...

let us know what you find out about the paprika for cat repellent!

here is an electronic cat repellent (i havent tried it):

good point about the cover/polishing... I already ordered a tattle tale after talking to a friend who owns a cat and has used it... figure i'll cover it and use the tattle tale device together until the cat gets the idea and then just use the tattle tale afterwards. any suggestions for an all weather car cover? we get all the fun weather here in jersey =).

I would if I didn't know the owner... plus I don't to start a war over this... I'm sure I'd be more upset with my car damaged by people than a cat =p
