Help please
Hi all,
I just ordered MY 2002 blk/blk. I pick it up in April...it's going to be a looooonnnng wait.
Part of the deal was to include a protection package at no cost. This includes rust proofing, paint protection, vinyl/leather/fabric protection and sound shielding.
Since I worked this into the deal, I have the option to not have them done before I pick up the car.
I have a few questions for the experts out there:
1 - I am not planning to drive it in the winters, but it will be stored in an unheated garage so I am concerned about condensation. Is the rust protection good for this?
2 - Can I put Zaino over the diamondkote? Is diamondkote a good idea?
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks

IMO, Diamond Kote is a terrible waste of time. Since your's is a black car, you will have to ensure that the product is applied by hand only. Using an orbital buffer, or other contraption to apply/polish the product could result in deadly swirl marks on your paint. To answer your second question, I doubt that the Zaino will achieve its full potential if applied on top of the Diamond Kote. A wasted effort at best. Undercoating is not such a bad idea, as it acts as a sound dampner as well. Typically, I prefer to undercoat my own vehicle, with supplies not costing me more that $20-$30. This way, I can ensure that all vulnerable parts have been covered, in addition to being careful as to how and where I spray. Most techs at the dealerships couldn't care less as to how it is applied.
My opinion; scrap the diamond kote idea, and get yourself the full Zaino treatment. As for the undercoat, its not such a bad idea, but if you have the time and patience, can likely do better yourself.
Good luck!
