help with swirl marks

Sorry, my bad choice of a word "buff." When I stop the machine, the foam pad is still on the paint surface. There's always some residue or smudging at the place where I stop and then pick up the machine. Then, I WIPE the residue off the paint surface with a 100% cotton towel.
