Default Helpful tools not designed for detailing.

So today I picked up a shaving brush from the bodyshop.
It is perfect for dusting the interior, especially in the vents and crannies.
It got me thinking, what other tools or tricks do you use that are not designed for detailing but provide very useful to the task?

Toothbrush. Use them all the time. Great for under the hood, door jams, trunk jams, etc. Usually gentle enough to not scratch stuff up too.

I've actually never tried the newspaper on windows.

Along the same lines as the op stated, pick up a few cheap paint brushes 1/2" to 1" sizes work well for crevice dusting inside and out. I use varying lengths of foam tipped swabs for cleaning/ removing excess wax in tight areas.

I second toothbrushes.

Q tips and makeup applicators (those white pads/wedges) are good ones too.

As Vanishing said I also second the paint brush. I used that for many of the same things that don't require a tool as small as toothbrush.

Qtips work but deteriorate so quickly I find them more annoying than anything. the makeup applicators on the other hand are a good substitute.

I use a fabric softener sheet to wash the bugs off the front. Works like a charm every time with very little scrubbing.

I use a leaf blower to quickly dry the car after washes. Works great!
