Default How to clean my CF hood/trunk?

So I have been noticing that my hood/trunk has a bunch of odd blemishes. Mainly my hood. I don't know if its from winter with salt or bird poop. Either way I need some help so I remember being told that clay would do the job. Well I went out and got some meguirs clay now I just need the right solution. Would the meguirs cleaner wax, mothers cleaner wax do the job? If anyone could point me in the right direction I would gladly appreciate it. Here are some pictures of what I'm talking about. Thanks for looking!

Always clean up bird crap as soon as you see it. Bird crap is extremely alkaline and will literally eat through your clear coat - I have a spot on my car from the previous owner.

What do you mean by, "i need the right solution"? Solution for the clay? Use an Instant Detailer to lubricate the surface of the hood, when using detailing clay. Don't use wax as the lubricant.

Wow that hood looks pretty messed up. Looks like it needs to either A) Be compounded/wetsanded or just re-cleared all together.

well i checked out autozone and they have a meguirs clay kit. Included is an instant cleaner solution, 2 sticks of clay, and meguirs cleaner wax. I didn't buy it because i dont know if it will fix this.

Post up in the NOVA section to see if anyone knows how to polish cars. Ask how much they would charge to polish out both the hood and trunk (probably no more than $150 for just those too) and ask them to help YOU do the work, so you can learn.

To be honest, it's good you didn't buy it because the paint cleaner will just strip the waxes already on the parts (which looks like none) and the clay will only pick up dirt within the paint, it won't get rid of the hazing. Like I said, post up in your local forums for a good detailer to help you out. If you want to learn, buy 'im lunch, and some beers and pay like $30 bucks for him to help you out, I'd do that for sure!

The hoods in pretty bad condition, so it won't look perfect again as it looks like some clear is gone, but it'll definitely look a lot better than it did!

Good luck!

Probably a couple hundred per panel. Maybe $300 for hood $200 for trunk. Don't know exactly.

Won't hurt to try and fix that, but i think your hood is dunzo and will need to be recleared.

well its also gonna depend on what brand of hood that is. if its a seibon hood then its not clear coated in the first place and you can fix that easily. the top coat is just a gelcoat and gelcoats are extremely easy to buff, so you can just sand it down starting with say a 1000 grit to get rid of the blemishes and wetsand up to a 2000 and just buff it out. on gelcoat applications, you can get rid of the blemishes easily, now if its real mugen hood, im not sure if they clear coat or not, but if its a clearcoat on top then your gonna need to sand and reclear.
