I figured that Woolite made more than just detergent. I don't know, I don't wash my clothes, I purchase new ones
Seriously... I purchased some Lexol today and it was not strong enough. I had to scrub to begin to remove any of the dirt.
After purchasing and trying the Lexol, I went back to the store to find something a little stronger so I found a gentle degreaser and began to lightly scrub. After finishing with degreaser, I used a fair amount of water to remove the remnants of the degreaser. I then followed up with Lexol and finished Meguiar's Gold Class Creme.
I really can't believe how difficult the tan leather is to clean. Perhaps for subsequent cleanings I will try the Townsend leather cleaner and preservative.

The problem with using a stronger cleaner (as you have done) is that it will affect the long term integrity of the leather itself. Sometimes putting in a little extra elbow grease is better than having to re-cover your seats and door panels with new leather.
I think there's a balance in cleaning leather...the townsend cleaner is good ...does require additional elbow grease to be effective .. but it is respectful of the leather. Stronger products may require less effort and be more effective at first but in the long run are more caustic to the leather...
For my needs... I use townsend cleaner and protective cream regularly and have for just about 2 years now... my Tan interior is as fresh & clean and probably in better conditon that it was when installed...
