How often should you wax the car?

ive heard too much is not good for it... is that true?

 

it really depends on several things...

1. what product you are using

2. whether the car is kept covered or not

3. how often it is outside

4. where you drive (near salty air, sandy deserts, or just plain old normal stuff)


if you want an average- about 60 days for carnuba and a few more months on top of that for synthetics. you can go longer if the car is kept covered and driven in more normal places and garaged.

yes, you might get some wax build up if you wax it every week and never polish it- but you are not likely to see this for a couple years or so (usually). but i can not imagine not taking off swirls every once in awhile- wax build up is really not a big deal... just dulls the shine a bit. and easy to fix.
synthetics dont get the wax build up, so thats another advantage for them.

 

I'll usually wax the car about once a month. I know that the products I use can go a lot longer, but I just enjoy detailing the S and can't wait longer than a month.

i agree- i wax or synthetic mine every time i wash it. i shoulda mentioned that-

 

3-4 weeks for me..

 

4-6 weeks for me.

 

1-2 weeks.
is that too often?
