used 303 last week, was initially happy until it started raining, now i'm left with an oil residue down the windows and on the top of the door that need cleaning every time. I did read about this first so made sure to use as little as possible and sprayed on a sponge before applying to limit excess. I then buffered repeatedly. Pretty disappointed, I'm just hoping over time it will stop... Might switch to raggtopp next time.

What kind of brush do you guys using? I purchased a Regular horse hair brush from amazon from raggtopp, but it didn't have that good of a review.

I just got a Kiwi horse hair shoe shine brush. It works well.

What would you guys use to get tree sap from the fabric of the soft top without damaging it? I already washed the top normally and it didn't come off, you can still see the few spots on it.

is your soft top vinyl or fabric? Ragtop and 303 make cleaners for each material.

It's a replacement aftermarket soft top so I'm not 100% sure, but I would guess vinyl. Would those cleaners be strong enough for the tree sap?

I believe Raggtop cleaner would be strong enough. I would try it before more aggressive solutions. Up close pictures might help identify if it is vinyl or cloth.

My MIL made convertible tops for a living and also awnings for business, custom hunting tents with places for Ben Franklin stoves. When we got our '06 back in 2010 I asked her what to use to clean it. She told me to use a mild soap with a soft cloth and never put the top down(for a long period of time) wet. Well, 15 years later we still have the original top even after putting over 200k miles on the S. Works for me.

I use soap from washing the car, the concentrate from the big bottle offered at Costco. Seems fine. I then preserve with Raggtopp and wipe down. Mine is like yours, 2009 and looks pretty new. I was also careful to go over the car when I got it to make sure there were no burrs on the tubes to make holes.
