Default Washing the soft top

Well just bought the 04 on Saturday.

What do you guys recommend to wash the top with ?

Just mild soap and warm water ?

What about protectant ?

This is the daily driver so it should see some crappy weather here in IL.

Most often, just wash it with the regular car wash stuff. From time to time, use a plastic brush and a vinyl cleaner, the protectant.

Lots of us use the "303" product, but there are many other good ones on the market.

Just keep in mind that the top is vinyl, not cloth or canvas.

search the wash n wax forum but ..

I was with regular dawn soap. With the soft top wet I apply 303 cleaner , then 303 vinyl protector..

This definitely does belong in wash'n'wax, but does the 303 cleaner stuff mess with your Zaino when you wash it off?

I rarely ever wash the top. It never seems to get that dirty.

i also have only washed my top once in the 3.5 yrs.. cause its always hiding under the boot!
but i have used the porsche top cleaner and raggtop on others. on a vinyl top, you can just use a good car shampoo (as was suggested above) and if its really dirty a good brush. since you would wash the top first, it doesnt matter that the products that you used to preserve it might rinse onto the car body. just be careful when applying them after the car is clean make sure to apply the 303 or vinylex to a rag and then to the top- i would not spray it onto the top directly (or you will get it on the car).
