indy car finish?
ok over at my work..... k1 speed in carlsbad, we have this indy car!

part of my job is to give this thing a good detail every now and then. any ideas on what to use on it? i dont know what the body is made of. it seems as though people have been cleaning it with rags that are dirty, as there are swirls all over the car.
any ideas on how to shine her up? are there different products than ones that are made for regular automotive finishes that would work better? mind you this car wont be raced ever again, its engineless and it sits indoors. so its not really exposed to the elements.
i wish i could drive this thing!
powered by honda! wooot wooot!

exactly the same process that we use on our cars-
a good place to start is to read mikeyc's guide to detailing... have you seen it?
it sounds like it needs a good cleaning, maybe some clay and then a polish- the whole process...
you might want to take this is steps if you have never detailed a car before. if so, the first step would be to wash it so that all parts are washed really well with quality car shampoo and lambswool mitt. they use a big blue type drying towel.
next step is to read about how to clay- once you are comfortable with the wash process, you would clay the car the next time it gets washed.
then you would read about polishing- the third time its washed you would do the polish... and my suggestion would be that you post up in your local forum that you will supply products and refreshments if someone will bring the machine and show you how to use it. after this step you would wax the car.
this is my "keep it simple" routine for your car- because its sitting inside i am not worried about putting wax on it the first time you wash it... but it should be protected after you polish it. i would actually use a synthetic and then the next time its washed put a real wax over.

why do you think its not a regular auto finish??
i cant imagine that it is not-
should be the same process...
the only possible diff would be if its not clear coated (it prob is)- if its not you would need a diff polish when you get to that step.
