This has been reported several times in the past. Some have said that a power buffer and plastic polish "can" bring it back but not all have been successful.

I had this happen to my car also. The plastic polish doesnt work for me. To clean them i use meguiars step 2 car polish on them. i leave it for 5 minutes and then go at them with a buffer. They clean up very well with this. after im done buffing them I use nufinish ( yes... nufinish) on then and remove it by hand with a small towel. the lights come out new. I've revived a bunch of headlights this way.

Someone did it using 4 different grits of sandpaper, results were brand new lenses.

I use the same stuff on my headlights that I use on my paint--Menzerna IP and FPII. It's worked great on every set of headlights I've ever polished

Have cleaned up some nasty lights with that combo. Make sure to protect them well once they're cleaned up.

I use AIO + 303 with good results in the FL sun.

I work on airplanes for a living, and once in a while we have to polish off scratches on the cockpit windows. We use a Micromesh kit, which has sandpapers starting from 3000 or so sandpaper all the way up to in the 6000 range. I really does wonders for the acrylic windows. I guess you could use this on the headlighst also. Just my 2 cents.

I've heard nailpolish w/o acetone works. Never tried it myself. I actually just used high grit sand paper, wet sand, then dry, then polish with PC on my van. Started with 1000 grit wetsand, then did 2000, then 4000, then dry and polish.

They sell headlight polishing kits at advance auto/autozone that I used on mom's 1994 merc. I think it was about 15bucks. Worked extremely well. Just a pad you add to a drill and spray with water.
