Default A large request

To all detailing gurus.. I know there are many products out there, some prefered, some not. I am looking for a full complete article on washing, and detailing, from top to bottom. We are looking for articles to post on the new main page.

I see alot of links, but I would like to ask if anyone or several of you would be intersted in putting together an article. Putting all links together and getting a meat and potatoes how to to wash the S2000.

This would include... Exterior, plastics, interior, top, underneath, rubber, rims... you name it. It would be fairly extensive, but can be broken into chapters per say. Everyone who contributes will have their name included. Pictures are a must!!!

Maybe https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=323095 this thread might be a good starter...

if folks want to post ideas here and give me permission i can cut and paste into an article from all of us-
if you could just focus on one part and post here, we will put the posts together and give credit to the posters... and as hondagal mentions, be sure to include pics!!

how about we start with the table of contents...

i suggest the following (please give me thoughts on additions or changes):

washing & drying

interior (leather care and vinyl care- maybe two separate items, especially since we have a leather expert)

wheels & tires

glass cleaning

claying

polishing

protecting (wax or synthetics-maybe these are two separate sections)

top protection

engine cleaning

special problems (bugs, eggs, tar, etc.)

quick detailing

Looking forward to this ... good start wanabe.

I suggest a chapter on Wheels and Tires as well.

Perhaps the chapter on soft top care could include a subchapter on care of the plastic window for those of us still maintaining this item.

I'd love to help!

However, considering the number of times I've posted my screw ups (especially with CLAY), I'm only qualified to write a "What Not to Do" section.

If I could be of any help gathering/ organizing info...let me know.

Thanks for the props, HondaGal... but I have to credit DavidB/Autopia with that - I just executed his process.

I appreciate where you and wanabe are coming from - wanting to have an S2000-specific wash/wax guide - but I think the basics are covered in painstaking detail elsewhere. For example, the downloadable Guide to Detailing from Autopia is a PC app that covers almost every aspect of detailing.

Just a thought... If you can think of a compelling reason to focus on the S2000 (aside from the fact that this is S2ki.com ) I'm sure I could be convinced. The basics of detailing apply to the S2000 as well as any other car. There are some specifics, sure... I don't know... Just rambling now...
