Default Lil black spots on GPW

I've had this problem for a while. I'm getting these tiny specs all over the rear bumper that are a b*tch to get off. I've tried clay bar and everthing. Anyone else have this prob and what do you use to remove it? I'm wondering if its soot from the exhaust???

tks

very strange... the clay should do the trick-
what lubricant do you use with the clay?
blackfire makes a clay lubricant that is very nice...

if this doesnt work, then you are stuck with a polish as your next choice. i always start with less aggressive ones since they like to eat clearcoat- and if that doesnt work, move up to a more aggressive one.

some good polishing tips here:

Don't know if you live around a lot of trees, but I get the same thing with oak tree sap. Although not just on rear bumper. Mine came off with clay, but I washed with hot water first, to soften the specks. Hope it comes clean.

Have you tried a solvent like WD-40?

How often in between washes? I find that my GPW gets VERY dirty on the back bumper area very quickly, but a weekly wash has been ok for removing everything so far.

My GPW gets the same thing. I just used a clay bar on it about a week ago then Zaino'd it. I believe it is from the exhaust and road. The back bumper of my car is always the first part of the car to get dirty. I can wash the car and go for a quick spin, come back and there's already black spots or dust on the back bumper. No way to prevent it really, just give it extra attention when washing.

If it doesnt come off with clay, its probably scratch/ding. If its any sort of pollutant/foriegn material clay should get it off.

Well, I digress. I was washing my GPW on Saturday and noticed the same little black spots that didn't want to come off. I spent five (read that FIVE hours) yesterday claying and refinishing the car.

The black spots appeared to be tiny spots of tar and did not want to come off. I had to essentially scrub them off with the claybar.
