Default Love Bugs?

Just got back from Orlando and need to clean up the Love Bugs. Any suggestions from you Love Bug experts in Florida?

i am not in florida, but i do have the best article ever written on the sujbect- let me track it down for you...

the key is to remove bugs, tar or sap asap- when they harden they become really hard to remove and bugs actually can become a shellac type material.

Thanks Mr. wanabe. I also tossed this question out on the old fartz forum since so many old people go to Florida. The concensus seems to be get those love bugs off as soon as possible. I guess they are more corrosive than normal bugs.

I've heard panty hose and shampoo works wonders with getting them off, but i've never tried it. A few friends have though. I wash my car every other day, so at most I have like... 4 on my car, and I usually get them off when they're still fresh.

to get rid of bugs i use a large towel , lots of hot soapy water - then drench the towel and drape over the bugs , leave an our or so wetting down the towel with hot water now and then - after it just wipes them off

Love bug: [: scientific name Plecia nearctica] or Palmetto Bug [Periplaneta americana]
Flying insects common to the southern United States, especially along the Gulf Coast, during the semi-annual bug flights or seasons; the insects are commonly found spattered on the hoods and windshields of automobiles. The body of these bugs are acidic and can etch the paint on vehicles if not washed off. Love bugs seem to be attracted to lighter colored objects. Spray affected paint surface and allow product to dwell, remove with a clean mesh covered sponge. Poorboys Bug Squash
