Who care's about the inside of the wheel
If you have a W&W badge I think it needs to be revoked!

I used Wheel Brightener on my AP2 wheels many times and everything went fine. If it's fine for AP2 wheels then it's fine for AP1 wheels.

I was refurring to the product being strong for the inside of the wheel. I wasn't insinuating that the inside of the wheel shouldn't be clean

Perhaps an initial cleaning with a 1:4 dilution then a maintanance dilution of 1 to 5/6 thereafter.
Safety first and with a one gallon jug of this stuff, you have plenty to experiment with.

Never had a problem using this stuff weekly at a ratio of 1:4. It makes quick work of brake dust and my wheels require minimal scrubbing. I can pretty much just spray it on, wait 15-20 seconds, and then rinse. Just remember not to let it sit on your wheels for too long or it will etch your wheels

It's pretty safe to assume that you want to avoid getting this on autobody paint.

Yes, and avoid getting it on yourself too if you can help it
