SIP first. Then the P085RD.

Love those polishes. On my Rio I didn't have to follow with po85rd but I did anyways.

Just keep in mind you may not have to use both. If your finish is in great shape then you can just polish with 85 to really amp up the gloss. If you have swirls you'll definitely need to start with SIP then finish with 85.

On a light color like Rio, silver, or white it's REALLY hard to see buffer haze. It definitely makes a difference though to finish with well . . . a finishing polish. Even though the buffer haze is hard to see removing it will really improve the finish of the paint.

Or "spot treat" particular problem areas with the SIP, then finish with all over PO85rd. 85 seems to have enough cut, with the proper pads, on our paints for most but the worst swirls.

Remove worst of swirl areas (sip), overall lighter cut/even gloss with 85, no excess work or polishing

The S2000 does have REALLY soft paint. The PO85RD has almost no cut though so I'm surprised to hear you're taking swirls out with it.

Perhaps my bad use of terms. My car is kept pretty much to the point of needing very little to no correction. The 85 seems to handle the semi annual "light work" if you will. Not really major swirl removal, but more refresh work. And I'm lucky that its suzuka.

Main point to the OP was similar to yours. You don't always have to use SIP, and even if you do, sometimes you can just correct certain areas, then finish out with po85. Basically do the least amount of aggressive polishing that is necessary.

I'm glad to hear you guys saying that S2000's have really soft paint, but after having detailed 4 of them, I just can't believe it. I've done 2 with really bad swirls, and with the intensive polish, an uber orange pad, and a PC set to speed 6 (finishing on 5), I usually have to go over the same area 2 or 3 times to get the swirls out. On the sides of the car, it's not that bad, but on all flat surfaces, it's going to take a while.
