Default Microfiber Quality?

OK, I've seen that everyone now offers a microfiber detailing towel and some like Proper Auto Care claim that their towels are superior, but is there really a difference? 200,000 fibers per square inch vs. 90,000 (turtle wax). Either way, it's softer and even less likely to scratch than cotton, so am I going to see the difference in the end? I'm assuming 90% of these are made by the same manufacturer anyway.

Has anyone had bad results with a peticular brand or found one to be worth the money?

I am going to be conducting a blind experiment between many of the major brands, and I'll let you know the results...

Order from Ranney at www.pakshak.com

That guy has the some of the best customer service I have ever experienced and the combo deals he offers near the bottom of the webpage are excellent. I ordered the deal with the 10 smaller towels that also comes with the larger waffle weave microfiber towel. The waffle weave, according to Ranney, is one that should be used in the drying process of the car wash. The smaller ones are used for buffing and removing wax. I used them for the first time this past weekend and the waffle weave towel is incredible. I will honestly never use a chamois again. That towel dried the entire car in under five minutes and didn't need a ringing once like a chamois does every 30 seconds.

Agreed, microfiber towels absorb amazing amounts. I'm also a convert from chamois. BUT, I think Pakshak is expensive. Good quality, but you can find as good for less.

yes, there are differences - from low thread count to high.
from korean to chinese manufacturers (the 2 make the most)
from the manner of processing
etc etc

Homer2, But will a higher thread count make any noticable difference in the end result? If I polished and waxed half my car with a low count cheaper microfiber and the other half with an expensive high count one, would me or anyone else be able to tell the difference?

I'm awaiting the side by side comparison by Vrm Vrm. Hopefully between the turtle wax brand (since it can be found anywhere) and the Proper Auto Care or Pakshak ones. Another reason being, is I would like to go to my local Pep Girls or Auto Zone if I need supplies quickly instead of having to wait for an online order.
