Just got back in from detailing. I have the routine down pretty much to a science; takes me about 3 hours (not including time to dry top).

I wash with Lambs wool mitt and regular dish detergent (except 303 Cleaner on the top).
I dry with a chamois.
Meguiar's and Plexus on the back window and lights.
303 Protectant on the top.
Polyclays and window cleaner on the windshield.
After all that, I "pre-finish" the body with something called "No-wet".
I follow with Polyclays and "No-wet" to finish.

Also, get my stuff from Classic Motoring Accessories. I only use micro fiber towels (the brand is called Viper I think) to detail. I don't use any type of true wax.

I'll try and show you pix assuming I got the link right. Daytime pix are from a few weeks ago. Night time pix are from today. Hopefully, there's enough detail to get an idea.

Liquid dish detergent is very commonly used out in the field for people who want to strip off any layers of wax. You'll see it recommended by many professionals. "Dawn" seems to be the product of choice.

I use it everytime I buy a car to strip off all the crudy but strong wax the dealers use.

 

Understood, I also use dishwashing liquid to also strip wax before claying. The way he wrote that he looks like he uses it everytime he washes his car.

I respect all the positive comments on mf, but why is it that Zaino is so hung up on using 100% cotton expensive Cannon or Fieldcrest towels???

 

Maybe he owns stock in those companies...

 

I've noticed if you let Zaino totally harden or dry overnight it is tough to take of with a MF towel. The terry is more abrasive and takes it off easily.

 

Zaino wants to sell you a lot of Z5!
