Default Is my porter cable supposed to vibrate my hands?

Just got my PC today and it works great so far, but i was wondering is it supposed to vibrate in your hands.

Another thing- i was using it to apply meguiars gold class liquid wax. How long do i go over the same area before i know its enough? It seems to be putting on such a thin coat and on black paint i couldnt really tell(bad lighting) whether it was wet or dry on the paint.

pc should not vibrate... maybe you have it set too high?
and make sure that the pad is centered.
i recommend that you use number 1 (lowest) setting for the first few months until you are used to the machine.
a good wax job will not be thick- better to not see it than to see too much (and much easier to remove).
once over the area (in lines front to back/ back to front) should do just fine. then remove and you can do it again if you like.

I had it on setting 1- and it was vibrating...could it have something to do with not have the pade screwed in correctly or something like that?

I run mine between 4 and 4 1/2. I do not get any vibrations. Be sure you are not pushing down on the PC. Let the weight of the machine to the work. Also, there was a little washer that came in the box. That goes between the pad and the PC when you screw the pad on. I have used my PC both with and without and I don't notice a difference, but you never know.

Oh, i'll have to try the washer...just to update, the handle and machine itself isnt vibrating anymore, just the pad(quite a it)- i was under the impression that you almost cannot tell its moving when you're using it- should i return mine and get another and see if they're the same- kind of a hassle but i will if necessary.

sounds to me like the pad is not centered...
are you using a velcro pad? if so, it must be centered or it will vibrate-
if not, i would return it.

Ok, I just pulled my out. Running it without the pad resting on a surface, I get a small amount of buzzing going through my hands. It is almost a little tingle. Once I rest it on a surface, the buzzing diminishes, but I still get some. There really isn't any major shaking or vibration going on.

I was able to compare with someone else who has a PC, and as some of you guys suggested it was not completely tight.

On a happier note i waxed my accord with it and it came out great! I'm still waiting on my complete pad kit so i can swirl remove, polish, and wax. The car will be looking even better then.
