Nanotechnology has been making huge gains this last couple of years.

Would be nice if this came as a baked-on surface treatment with all new cars.

There are a number of nano-tech (and non-nano) and ceramic permanent surface coatings that have been released recently. They're pretty amazing.

OptiCoat 2.0, G/Techniq C4, CQuartz, C1. Some more expensive than others and all require a good bit of attention to apply, but they're pretty amazing.

Any wheel + Opticoat is the greatest thing ever. You can kiss stubborn brake dust goodbye. I don't think there is anything you can do to make brake dust come off easier than Opticoat. I'm slowly starting to re-detail my car and apply it to the paint as well. I'm very much looking forward to putting some kind of permanent protection over my super soft Berlina paint.

Interesting. I might pick up some to put on my white powdercoated wheels. This sounds like just the ticket.
