i suggest that you keep it simple. if you arent ready for the machine, forget the polish (includes paint cleaners) for now... after a coupla months of detailing your car you will be ready for the machine- then post back and we can give you help with that too.

got your two buckets? check out our sponsor for good info on buckets and grit guards.
lotsa opinions on wax... if you want real wax, then p21s is my fav, and am about to test lusso oro. i use them to top my synthetics - but in the name of keep it simple, you could stay with wax for now.

for leather, i like townsends. you gotta have two products for any leather company- a cleaner and a preservative.
for vinyl, the cleaners have preservatives and sunscreen usually. i like vinylex or 303.
wheel care- you really should check out our how tos, but the main tip here is a good wheel brush. lotsa soap (car shampoo is usually fine- or p21s makes a good and safe wheel product). other tip is to wax the wheels well after they are clean. synthetics are best on the wheels cause wax will evaporate from the heat more quickly.

final tip- once clean and waxed, keep it new looking with a duster and detailers spray- and a car cover.

Good advice from wanabe.

Polishing without a machine is a very difficult task. However, a paint cleaner by hand may not be as difficult. Something along the lines of Klasse AIO would be a good step after claying the vehicle - speaking of which, have you clayed it recently? If not, I'd add that to your order.

Waxes are really a personal choice as there are many good ones on the market. Personally I've used and had good results, for different reasons with Natty's Blue, Clearkote Moosewax, 50/50, Pete's 53, FK Pink Wax, Pinnacle Souveran.

303 is a good all-around protectant. Also Optimum makes a nice protectant. For leather in particular I use Four Star's cleaner when needed followed by their leather conditioner. It's worked well for me so far.

On my Integra I used to Meguiars 3 step, which is, paint cleaner, polish, and wax. After a while I'll skip the polish and paint clean then waxed it. I also had the quick detailer. Polishing by hand does suck that's why I rid that process.

Though I like Meguiars I'm just sick of it and wanna see what other car care companies have. I'll use the foam cannon from time to time, but the 2 bucket method will be my main base method to wash her.

Also to sponge or not to sponge my car. Should get a sheep skin glove.

From my personaly taste, when it comes to leather cleaners, Zaino makes the best stuff IMO. It has that "new leather" smell.

303 is a great all around interior cleaner.

Everything else I use a combo of Adam's and Zaino products.

Wheels, I use F1 Eagle wheel cleaner from autozone, because it has no acids in it.

Yea I heard a lot of tire stuff will eat the paint off your car.

As I look at Zaino all in one looks like a I'll be picking that up.

Zaino AIO is great as a wheel wax to keep the peskey brake dust off your car.

From Zaino I use:

ZFX
Z2
Z AIO

thats about it.

Do you use anything special for your top? Also is there a certain type a tape to use when detailing the car?

I use 303 on my ragtop, altought raggtop works just as well, and DD sells it.

You only need to tape up your car if you are using a machine. Then grab some 3M blue painters tape, and tape up all your emblems and rubber.
