I've noticed my headlight (the outer cover) is turning abit yellowish. I'm not sure what's causing it. Not sure if it's from heat or what but if any of you know a certain product that'll get rid of it, I'd greatly appreciated. I also have a pair of headlight that's sitting with the same problem with a bit more discoloration. It looks like the previous owner got wax on it, and dried up. Any solution to this?
I'm not sure how safe it is to buff the plastic. Any help is appreciated.

 

several solutions...
i always go least aggressive to more aggressive-
the least aggressive is plexus. it is a plastic cleaner which can get light discoloration and will also add some protection.
if plexus doesnt get it, you will need to go to a polish- there are several plastic polishes that will work. always test a small area first- and i use the pc for this step.

I use many of the same polishes I use on paint for plastic and glass.

 

Where can you fine Plexus ? I have never seen it sold anywhere.

You will find that the PC is a FANTASTIC multipurpose tool that gives you the means to get that GREAT showcar look on your S. One warning tho, if you are prone to OCD then you might want to reconsider because detailing can be very addictive

 

How hard is it to use a PC if you've never used any sort of power tools for detailing before? I'm used to detailing by hand and it's getting pretty annoying!

I guess the biggest thing I'm always worried about is damaging my paint from applying too much pressure or something along those lines.

 

koala - nah, don't worry about harming your car's paint with a PC. Just a little common sense will go a long way. I had no experience with the Porter Cable but I knew I had to get one if I wanted the best shine I could get. I very quickly became comfortable with its use and my S looks absolutely great now.

I'd say the thing to be concerned about is pad and product choice. There's some good avice here to help you with that.

It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to hurt your paint with a PC. In my scary paint chip thread, that was the FIRST time I used a PC and you figure out pretty quick how much pressure it takes for the machine to work properly.

I just recently purchased a Rotary which I have been warned is a whole different animal and must be respected when it comes to polishing. I have a test car that I will use that on before I let it near my S.
