Default new product for top

I did not want to wait to get product in the mail. So while looking for somthing to protect the top I went to 4-5 auto parts stores and noone had anything for convertable tops. I went to Joe's and they did not have any automotive specific product, but as I was looking arround I came across Meguiars Canvas Protector (image below). I figured if it will work on a boat, it has got to work on a car! Our cars are not subject to the same enviroment that a boat is.

Before you laugh and make jokes. The picture below is of my top this weekend. I last applied protectant it in December and look at the results. Several of the guys at our Detail Day used it as well after seeing the results.

My top this weekend.

hmmm...

pretty sure that is a fabric protectant- can be a problem using a fabric protectant on a vinyl top.

and someone agrees with me:

lets see if we can find more info on your product before we conclude...

Repeated use of a water repellent spray will destroy your top. Water repellent sprays contain petroleum distillates and solvents. With repeated use your VINYL top will dry out and become brittle.

Since I am the Guinney Pig for this product I will give regular updates. I last put protectant on in December so we are 5+ months since application.

I will continue to give the evidence and each of you can make your own choice, if to use it or not.

Here are some pics from today when I washed my car.

Update: This product was applied in December 2007. As of November when the HT was installed the water still beeded up very nicely.

I will continue to give updates from time to time, but I give it a
