Default Which PC combo to get?

I am trying to finalize my decision on which combo to get for the Porter Cable buffer.

I cant seem to figure out if there any differences between the two following combo's, other than the price.

Whats the difference, and which would be more appropriate for a beginner using a PC.

or

i like the fact that this following combo comes with a box to store the PC, but it has nothing in regards to pads.

Let me know.

I know Lowes has them for $99.00
Then go to Autogeek for the pads.

I just went through making the same exact decision. I ended up buying my PC (7336) from Lowes for $99 and then bought my pads & backing plate on-line. You can also request a 10% discount coupon from Lowe's through this link to get your PC for $90. FYI, most websites have the PC for $130.

Thanks Mikey C,

I applied for the coupon.

Now which pads are recommended, I am leaning towards the SONUS Pads, are they considered a good choice?

imo, pads really depend on personal preference...
sonus is one of my favorites, but not the only one-
try them - they really are a good choice

Hey Wanabe,

I am a bit confused about the PC and which model to go with.

On the Autopia website, there is a whole write up on the 7224, but yet people are buying the 7336, whats the difference between the two.

Porter's website, basically said one has a polishing pad and the other doesnt, is that the only difference. I would not mind getting it at Lowes and saving some money, but it looks like after buying pads and backing plates, it will be about $20 less than buying the set on autopia.

One last question.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the sonus SFX and DAS pads? I cant figure it out.

Looks like the SFX line is just a newer line with new technology, but I am no expert on the subject.

Lowe's raised their price to $109 and does not come with the velcro backing plate

I just bought the 7336 in Lowe's for $99 last week. Also the 7424 does not come with a velcro backing plate either. You likely bought your 7424 with a pad kit that came with a velcro backing plate. There are only two differences between the two models:

1. 7424 comes with a 5" counterweight and the 7336 comes with a 6" either weight is fine to use with pretty much any buffer pad size

2. 7336 comes with a backing plate which allows you to use the machine as a sander.

Actually, both models come with a polishing pad. However, the only thing this pad is good for is covering it with a bonnet. It cannot be used directly on the paint.

I ended up buying Lake Country pads, but it was purely a matter of convenience not preference.
