plexus is, to me, the best clear plastic cleaner & protectant there is...
windex will not protect at all- its just a cleaner.
but as with all detail products, if you dont like it, dont use it!!
you could use a cleaner and then a separate protectant. i dont know of any plastic protectants that wouldnt leave a film.
also, windex will damage plastics over time- it will dry out plastic which will cause it to get fine cracks-

Plexus is a great plastic cleaner/protectant. However, you have to keep in mind that it's a very mild cleaner. If you were expecting your headlights to go from foggy to clear after a single application of Plexus then your expectations were unrealistic.

if you're looking to restore your headlights I would go with Plast-X. I mainly use Plexus for daily maintainance and my tinted windows.

In addition to the car, I use it to clean my glasses, sunglasses, computer monitors, LCD TV, and it will remove sticker glue.

Anyone tried The Novus plastic cleaners/polishes on the headlights? I use Novus 1 & 2 on my plastic rear window and it works wonderfully, but I've never touched my headlights with it.

I use both Novus 1 and 2--I use the 1 on my S2000 frequently--keeps the lens clean (never needed the 2 on it) and I use the 2 followed by the 1 on my daily driver (MDX) (It needs the polishing action of the 2 to get the bugs off)
They're formulated to polish and protect clear motorcycle windshields so they're fine on headlights (in fact, I buy mine at the local Harley dealer)
