Default Polish on the soft top

Hey All,

I hope everyone's been well. I've been pretty busy the past several months and my car and the board sadly became an afterthought...

That being said, when detailing, I got some polish on the soft top and I can't seem to get it off. It's SSR1.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!! - Chris

Toothbrush
Rubbing alcohol

I would try some QD or some car wash solution. Alcohol will dry out the vinyl the top is made from. Yeah, yeah I know it's only one time but why risk it?

In my experience, alcohol is the only thing that works for getting Optimum polishes off the top, even my 303 convertible top cleaner wouldn't do it! Anyways, I should've mentioned that the OP should always be sure to apply some kind of vinyl protectant to the top afterwards (Vinylex, 303, Raggtop, etc.)

SSR1 is Poorboy's though. Anyway, my point really is that I think he should try something a little more benign before jumping straight to rubbing alcohol.

I've yet to get anything on my top that didn't come off with car wash solution, QD, or Ragg Top vinyl convertible top cleaner. The key is to use a toothbrush so that you can get into the weave of the top.

I see that second thread was a problem you personally had with NXT on your top. How did it work out in the end? Did you get it off?

Also . . . GO CANES!! Ahhh . . . I remember the good old days on the campus of UM washing my car in the dorm parking lot and getting the oddest looks from other students.

What eventually happened is that it continued to get chalky and I was able to scrape it off. I still have some specks but I am used to them.

The Canes are headed in the right direction now with Shannon. Check out a site I help with- www.canesoverhere.com

We do lots of taligaiting parties for away games.

I am actually heading to Tampa on Wednesday for the ACC basketball tourney. Mabe we will luck up and beat Maryland and let me at least see them in two games.

You need to get with us for the BC football game in November. We will have one hell of a pre-game party organized.
