Default Polish Splatter On Top

So frustrating, I tried so many times to remove the splatter spots from my top. I tried dawn and water, turlewax soap and water all with no success. Almost giving up I quickly thought of this idea...

Picked up a blue detailing brush from Wal-Mart

While there I picked up this stuff. Its made by Greased Lightining.

1. Dilute to 60% degreaser and 40% water, put in spray bottle
2. Spray liberally on problem areas
3. Use circular and back and forth motion to break up polish specks
4. Using a decent amount pressure with a hose rinse off the degreaser
5. Result, a splatter free convertible top

yes, nice post

i would only add that you gotta be very careful and keep the dilution - also be sure to rinse well afterwards- to prevent top discoloration and to keep it off of the paint. i know that you said that, but i want to emphasize the rinsing and dilution.

wish you had some before pics

want to leave my comments on the positive side and i do like this thread!

Thanks forthe input! Those are very VERY important things to add. Before was a total eyesore all over the rear was tiny white specks of polish some larger than others. It was a 100% improvement. Maybe a sticky is in order for this thread

The brush is really the key to the process. The cleaner you used was probably overkill. Car wash soap with the brush may have given you the same results.

top looks nice and black, what products do you use to maintain it?

Question for anyone with residue on their tops - do you find that have protection ie: 303/ragtop reduces and or eliminates the polish from ever getting on and staining the top?

I havent put any cleaner or protectant on it yet since I have owned it. It was done just previous to me buying it. Now that I scrubbed it all of I have to find something to use.

I was thinking of trying this stuff...

You tried car wash soap with the brush? The agitation from the brush is usually what loosens up the polish residue so that it comes off. A sponge or wash mitt won't do the same job. Polish residue comes off pretty easily and it's not often you need such a strong cleaner to get it off.

Also, if you're looking for something to maintain your top with I wouldn't buy the Griot's kit you linked to. First, IMO Griot's products for the most part are pretty overpriced and perform at a pretty average level. Second, that kit you linked to is for fabric tops. The top on the S2K is vinyl. Here's a kit that I used to use when I had an S2K and it's a favorite among many S2K owners:

I would wash the top after using that degreaser. Also, be careful with it.
303 aerospace is a good protectant for the top, and helps maintain the color and protect from UV rays.
