Pollen!
Happy's St. Pat's day all -
I love springtime, but...
I washed my car 2 days ago, and neglected to put my car cover on (as I usually do) last night. So I came out this morning, and my car looks just about green with the fresh layer of pollen that mother nature was so willing to provide... Argh! Does this happen to any of you? Maybe the greenish color was my car's way of dressing up for St. Patty's day?
I love my Berlina, but this time of year makes my water bill go up. I guess i shouldn't complain - I have no allergies to the stuff, and I'll take 75 degree, cloud-free, top-down driving any day.

I've got tons of trees on my property and also where I park for work. Pollen is a major pain in the butt alright. This year I even decided to wait until late spring to pressure wash/seal all my decks instead of doing them last fall. Last weekend my neighbors little kids came over and asked what I was doing when I was using the compressed air hose to blow the cloud of pollen off the car before I put the top down so I could go for a drive

Compressed air is one way - I guess I'm too lazy to fire up my compressor. I've been using a car duster, but I always kind of cringe when I do so, because I gotta be scratching the paint on some level by doing so. It does only take 2-3 minutes to do the entire car, though. Hmmm - what to do, what to do...
I truly feel your pain. Here in N. Texas, it's that time of year as well. I had a nice day's accumulation of pollen on my S yesterday, and then right around 6pm, it rains for all of about 5 minutes. All the pollen that would have otherwise easily dusted off when I got home was now a nasty gooey mess. And I wasn't even breathing hard....
When I got home, I figured I'd try the duster and see if it would pull any pollen off - and I'll be damned if it didn't!! Pulled all the pollen off and then I had to go to work with the detail spray (eagle 1 wet) to get rid of the water marks (the rain had time to dry on my car and the road well before I made it home so there was no road grime) and my car was looking spiffy again in no time. No sworls, no scratches, nada. Luckily, I've taken wanabe's advice on keeping the car clean and detailing it, which helps to keep her looking good almost all the time!

IN Virginia, the pine and oak trees are the worst culprits, when they are in their rut.
You can use a quality detailing liquid and a miracle towel to safely remove pollen. The detailing mists (like Z12, Meguiar's #34, etc.) "float" the pollen above the surface of the paint, and no scratching can or will occur.
Even though my car is covered and garaged, the pollen is fine enough to get through, but I can do the whole car in (like*) 5 minutes.
