Pre Mixed Zaino Anyone ?
does anyone pre mix their Zaino ?
In my never ending experimenting of LSP's, I've decided to do yet another test of my fave LSP, zaino (yes , I need a life)
Its' my "paying customers" that at times give me really good ideas as I'm doing their cars .
One chap, asked me "What's with this mixing and shaking you do ??? ".. Ding ! Ding ! Ding ! and it hit me right then and there. I'm gonna put an end to this mixing and shaking.
As you all know,
z2 , z2 pro, z5 all require , or so they say, ZFX drops to better bond with the paint and speed up drying time.
zfx requires, 4-5 drops per 1 ounce.
Well i took it a step further,
I cracked out an 8 ounce bottle of z2 pro from my supply
I applied the 4-5 drops, rule, (in my case i used 5 drops = 40 drops of zfx)
Bammo ! I have an 8 ounce z2 pro bottle that i shoook "vigorously" cuz I no longer have my little bottles due to no longer have a local supplier.
And Ta da ! a pre-mixed , pre activated 8 ounces of z2 pro ready right outta the big bottle and onto the finish tomorrow night..
Possibly an end to the mixing and shaking of those little bottles.
This will go on one side of my test panel tomorrow night. My pic below shows my Rotary Test Lab. That pic was taken during my previous test of Optimum vs DACP Compound.

Zaino with no zfx long term test:
On a side note, I'm currently a week into my z2 pro long term test.

On my hood, I currently have half of it coated with z2 pro x 3 , topped with Natty's Blue x 2 with no zfx as a part of my long term test.
I'll report back for in the weeks to come and let you all know how this is turning out..
anyone else pre-mix ?
To Sal, if you are reading, I do love your product, dont get me wrong. I'm not trying to cause a mutiny towards your recommended application. I've done it your way for years, but I've gotten quite busy. I try different methods that will help me personally, with the volume and the size of the cars I'm detailing. In the end, I'm still buying TONS of your stuff right ?

I could have sworn that in the directions for z2 it states that once it has been activated or mixed with zfx that you need to use it within a certain amount of time (24 hours comes to mind). Also, I thought I read that it should be disposed of after that time period. I'm not sure what happens after that amount of time that makes it unusable because I've always just mixed it immediately prior to applying it. I could be wrong though....

The following is from the zanio website
" When you are finished polishing, wash the mixing bottle inside and out with a heavy concentration of liquid dishwashing detergent or even better Isopropyl Alcohol and thoroughly rinse. The ZFX
coming from the same company that says they do not recommend using a carnuba topper, i'll continue my experiments..
coming from the same company that do not recommend applying z2 pro with a pc..
i've known guys who've had their little bottles with about 1.5 ounces around for 6 months and we put it on and you could not tell the diff honestly..

It might still make the paint shine, but my guess is that the bonding agent of the ZFX dosnt work well after the elapsed 12 hour time period. IF you have ever tried to clean one of the bottles that sat too long, its pretty much hopeless.
I have no idea, but thats just a guess from my experiences with the product.

I've had a ZFX "activated" 2 oz. bottle of Z2 since spring. It never hardens and stays quite usable. In fact it slides off the bottle walls very easily.
My quest is to find out what ZFX is. It smells and looks exactly like this concentrated blue glass and window cleaner I used years ago You know, the kind you add water to.
