Default In the Pro league now!

I was tired of hand polishing and waxing, and after reading all the great reviews I order the PC 7424. I just got it in the mail, and haven't even used it yet. I could use some last minute suggestions from you guys on the do's and dont's. I plan on doing a full detail on my IS300. I plan on wasing with dawn, claying it (using car wash as clay lube), washing it again. Using Perfet it II polising pad glaze (whatever it's called) to polish, then following it with meguires wax. I'm not a pro by any means, but I've done my fair share of waxing/polishing.

I'll post before and after pics on my IS300. I am open to any last minure advice on my detail project. The car is black, has minor swirl marks and a few water spots that I couldn't get rid of in the past.

One question that I had is if it's okay to use the polishng pad that came with my PC?

I'll be working on the S next, but I just had some body work done, and I'll have to take it to the bodyshop for a repaint. I'll leave it alone until it's done, and the paint has had time to cure/breathe.

Thanks for the suggestions, My IS is 03 Black, pretty good condition overall, with the exception of the minor swirl marks, and a few water spots.

dont ever stop the PC and never press it down on the paint. let its own weight be enough. some people use the pads that come with it but many order one of the kits. i think mickeyC is on the edge kit but not 100%. any PC questions you have can be found on autopia.org in the chat fourm.

What do you mean by never stopping the PC? Everytime I need to apply more polish to the pad, I'll have to stop it right? I know that I should put in on the car first, then turn it on, and turn it off before I lift it off the car.

I'll definitely try different pads, but the pad that came with the PC shouldn't hurt anything right?

It's so embarassing when I misspell words in the title of my thread. I blame it on samuel adams...

I better stay away from it when detailing, he he.

Can you please elaborate. Sorry to be picky, but when I'm detailing, I pay attention to detail.

Damn, I'm on a roll tonight.

Thanks for the help importkid!

ohh, and contacts, god I used to hate those. consider laser surgery man, it's changed my life, I can see the time when I wake up, no fuzzy eyes at night, and I can bodyboard without worrying about sharks!

if you let it sit still you will get burns on the paint. i also dont think that putting it on the paint before turning on and turning it off while still on the paint is the best on the machine, however i may be wrong. wait for wanabe or mickeyc (or any other of our wonderful senior members to answer that) but the reason i say that is because most machines say let get up to running speed before using.

back to burning paint. just keep going back and forth, if someone cames to talk to you or something remove the machine from the paint or keep moving it while holding the conversation. (example)

if someone down the road has a wreck and you look up to see what happened either remove the machine from the paint or keep on going. (another example)

in other words just dont let it sit on the paint, also remember not to press it down.

okay, don't let it work the same spot, othewise it'll burn the paint. common sense, but point well taken.

Oh, and I believe the manual states that you shouldn't turn it on/off unless in contact with the object. It would be bad for the PC.

swirl marks and water spots may come out with a little PC time and some light polish if not go to a medium.
