A question for you carnauba wax gurus
Hi,
Recently I tried topping AIO with a carnauba wax and noticed one big advantage. After 3 days of daily driving, I have almost no dust on the car. Considering I have a black car, this is huge! The wax I used was poorboys blue. The question I had is for the gurus who have tried it all... which wax would you say repels dust the best? I've only had AIO and SG on previously, and I just figured attracting dust like a magnet was just something I had to live with. Thanks.

yup, you found out one of our main attractions to sandwiching synthetics and carnubas!!
i have not found that it really matters - all carnubas are pretty good at dust repellancy. my fav is p21s cause it combines all factors that i am looking for- easy on / off, nice shine, and does not give lotsa white in the cracks!!

I never really notice dust repellency because I have a silver car. However, I have heard before that sealants attract quite a bit more dust than carnauba waxes.
It was definitely the AIO/SG combo before that was causing your dust problems.

Good to hear. I guess I'll give p21s a try next time. The poorboys stuff works great but was not the most fun to buff off.
Well, me and a friend put it on my car then his, (15-20 min max haze time, since we immediately went to buff off my car when we finished applying his) and it was really tough to buff off the hood and trunk. His car was a breeze. I did notice that the top of the wax seemed to be harder, and I did start on the hood. (all this was done in the sun as well... early sunlight 9am ish and the surface wasn't hot yet).
I was already used to applying thin from Klasse SG =p that stuff is definately no fun if applied thick.

First working in the sun doesn't help, but sometimes you don't have a choice. Second, I think you're leaving the wax on too long. Try waxing one or two panels and then removing the haze. I'm sure you'll find it's much easier.
Here's a funny thing......
I was once told by a detailer, that when you wax a car (regardless of what wax) the fact that you are using a cloth to buff energizes the car (static) thus attracting dust.
I dont know if its BS, but it does make some sense.
I honestly dont notice a difference when I put on just AIO or if I top it off with a non-systhetic.
