Default Questions on Zaino application

I have read the Zaino application steps on their site as well as
multiple threads here including the faq. Here's the situation,
weekends are really busy and with a 6 month child old at home
it is almost impossible to set aside such a big window of time to
do a Zaino complete application.

My question to you is, is there any way I can use certain Zaino
products and keep on maintaining it over time with multiple
coats? Something that can be applied in a 1-2 hr window from
start to finish. I am willing to reapply a coat every two-three
weeks if necessary.

I understand that I will not get the "complete" zaino effect, but
would it be better than a traditional wax can provide?

Or, should I not get into Zaino unless I have the time to invest on it?
Should I continue with more traditional waxes etc?

Thanks!

I think that is exactly what you need to do. I applied my first coat as per the instructions. Then later, when I had more time I applied a few more coats. I have about 6 layers in all, applied over the course of 3-4 weeks. They have been on for about 9 months now, and the water still beads perfectly.

regardless of any product, the longer the curing IMO, the better it will be..

IMO, there's nothing quick about Zaino due to its "specific curing time" "finger test" for a first timer

Sorry to steal your thread "silverlude2001" but I think you got your answer and my question kind of falls in with yours!

I've read the FAQ and have also browsed to page 20 of this forum and still can't find the specific answers. As you all know, search is useless in v4.

The FAQ says its not "recommended" to use a Porter Cable polisher with Zaino. I'm just wondering how many people do use the PC with Zaino and does it speed up application time? Also does it help the shine anymore? Is it worth getting when switching to Zaino?

You should stick to the initial application routine. Wash, polish or clay, Dawn wash then application of Z2 with ZFX. Remove when dry (depends on weather).

After the initial time investment you can easily get a coat on and off in an hour with ZFX by hand.

Wanabe, Boiler, me and a few others use the PC to remove zaino. I still use a towel to reach the tight areas, but I like it. I don't think it saves that much time but I feel the shine is better. It doesn't hurt. Sal says not to use the PC for fear of applying too much on application.

To give you some idea how long applying Zaino takes, here's my experience. I did the wash with Dawn last evening...thorough wash and dry in about an hour. Today I started at 1:00PM. Worked the clay bar over the car well in about 1 hr + 10 minutes. I applied two coats of Z5 interspersed with Z6 and was finished by 5:30. This included applying Zaino to the wheels, the portions of the trunk and doors outside the seals, and the perimeter of the underside of the hood. I was quite surprised how easy it was to apply Zaino polish. I had no problem putting on an even, thin, coat and the stuff buffs off very easily with no residue. Great stuff! Tomorrow, I'll put on two coats of Z2/Z6, clean the windows, and shine the tires. I expect to spend about two hours, max. By the way, the car looks great with only the Z5 applied. Can't wait to see how good it will look with the Z2 on her.
