The thing most people have a problem understanding when it comes to detailing is "when do I do certain processes?" The simple answer is "when you need to."

Detailing is all about inspecting the finish and re-inspecting the finish. Is the car dirty? Then wash it. Is the car swirled? Then polish it. So on and so forth.

agree...

the name of the game is getting the paint as perfect as possible, then protecting it and trying to keep it perfect.
life happens
swirls happen
grime happens

when grime happens, you clay
when swirls happen, you polish
(after either of these, you gotta re-synthetic or re-wax...)

and when life happens, you party!!

Not if you use an ultra fine detailing clay.

I have learned a lot from this site, as well as Autopia.org , Autogeekonline.com and detailingworld.com

I remember back in the day when I used regular cotton terry towels for buffing

i remember when nufinish was tttthhhe synthetic!!
still exists, but havent used it in years- several years before zaino... maybe while we were beginning to play with klasse products.

heck, i remember before synthetics when we argued about the best way to get shine from waxes!

and microfiber? no such thing in those days- it was diapers baby!!
