Default Removing snow off car

Just out of curiousity, how do you winter drivers remove the snow off your car?

I see a lot of people using brooms and other harsh brushes and it makes me cringe everytime at the thought of a scratched clear coat! What I usually do is remove the majority of the snow with my bare hands leaving a thin layer. Then I pour lukewarm water over the car until every bit of snow is gone. Then I take it for a short drive to get rid of the excess water so it doesn't freeze later on. It takes some time and the only thing I worry about is cracking the glass but I think its worth it over using a brush.

We're expecting more snow in NY this week so any other solutions till I get my cover?

i dont use the ice scraper on the windshield anymore. it put scratches on it.
sometimes i use gloves and just push it off or sometimes i use the california water blade to push off the majority.
i try to face the windshield to where the sun would be, melts it.

Not only is this not a wise thing to do (warm water on a cold painted surface?), it's verging upon compulsive/obsessive behavior. I have brushed snow off my car for 5 winters now. If you wax/polish your car at the beginning of winter and again at the end, it can take it. Just like you lightly brush of the snow off with your bare hands, you can do the same with a snow brush.

You have got to be kidding me.

Just buy a decent brush. I use a snow brush every year and I am yet to see any scratches or other problems.

I used to use the window squeegee (like the ones gas stations have, only better) that I carried in my trunk. Never had a problem with any scratches on my Subaru, even -- Subarus have notoriously lousy paint. HPH

I use the windshield wipers and defroster, and drive off.
