should i tape the front end and sides? if so what kind and and where could i get it?
or should i just was the he** out of the front end and call it a day? lemme know what everyone would do?

When I moved from Dallas to San Diego last year, did a full detail before I left. This way most of the dirt, bugs, etc. slid right up when I washed in SD. I thought about taping but ultimately did not have the time to do it. I think it is a great idea, but again be sure you wash thoroughly before because the removal could cause marring if placed over a dirty surface. Also, steer clear from trucks. I did and I still managed to take a missile (pebble) to the windshield. (Rant) No joke- I was at least 4 car lengths back and the the left of a semi and I saw this comet coming in slow motion...
Edit: I did not mention that I made the trip with no rock chips in the paint and no trouble with the front end...So my no tape gamble was fine.
So I say full detail, tape if you want or have time, wash when you get to your destination (when you have time) and stay away from semi's...
Good luck and have fun!

its really a personal decision...
if you tape it be sure to detail it first so you dont tape on grime.
i am with sdcj on the truck thing- i always give them plenty of room in front of me and when i am ready to pass, i move over early and vtec often!!!
even around town i stay away from the rears of suvs (dont like gas stains which they are good at spewing out)-
no matter what i would do a few coats of synthetic and top that with carnuba before the trip. and would carry quick detail spray and mf towels just in case a bird finds you-
finally i would plan on a full detail upon arrival
