Scraped Underside of Frontend - How to Fix?
#1
![Question](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
How should I fix the underside of the frontend? As I was pulling into a parking spot, the underside of the frontend scraped over the top of the sidewalk. This managed to scrape / scratch a fair amount of paint off. There is even a dime size area of paint that appears to have totally chipped off.
Thankfully, you literally have to get under the car to notice any of the damage, but it is still bothering the heck out of me that it happened. (I just got bought it last weekend).
How should I fix this .... would touchup paint work? If so - where do I get it? Should I take it to the dealership and have them fix it? (I assume that would cost big $$?)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

well if you can only notice it by getting on the ground and lookin under the car...i wouldn't think it'd be that big of a problem since people scrape everyday going into steep driveways and what not. i dont think touch up paint would work. If its a deep scratch I imagine that you'll have to have it repainted. I wish i could help more, I wish my classes would hurry up and start for paint and body work

Until you figure out how to NOT do it again, there's no point in fixing it now. Besides, it's just plastic so it's not going to rust or anything.
Once you know you won't do it anymore, you can jack the car up and undo all the fasteners that hold the bumper to the undertray, then lightly sand down the whole length of the under edge of the bumper and spray paint it. You can go to an autobody supply store where they'll mix up your paint based on your paint code and put it into a spray can. Mask off the upper portions of the bumper and spray it a few layers. Once dry, get Coastal Metals bumper protector.

cover the underlip with one of these from coastal metals, mine has taken a beating but still looks pretty good with a quick 303 wipedown.
I'm not sure if the ap2 underlip dimensions are the same tho

What's best to do if you scrape the paint off the lip? I'm worried about rusting? I was just wondering what the proper procedure is for this?
also, link to the bumper protectant?

The bottom of my bumper is severly scraped up. Previous owner had no concept of the ride height, I guess.
Fortunately, my wife is buying me a OEM lip soon and the nasty damage will be out of sight, out of mind.

I did this same thing not long after getting the S. I about threw up. I'm super careful now, but every once in a while I'll end up in a parking lot or someplace where the bumper scrapes no matter what I do. I'll try approaching at an angle, going real slow, etc and then I hear scraaape
I think the OEM lip is a good idea, but with my luck it would scrap too. Would a carbon fiber lip hold up well and not show scrapes like an OEM lip would?
Thanks,
Dave
