Simple Green and cleaning Microfiber
So I just purchased a bunch of Griot's Garage stuff this weekend and one thing I bought and already love is their liquid microfiber cleaner, detergent, whatever. I followed the directions and washed all my old microfiber towels and it really brought them back to life. They are more absorbent and much softer.
Wouldn't Simple green (diluted of course) help with this as well and be a little cheaper too? It is a degreaser after all. I haven't tried it in the wash yet but it does a great job stripping wax off a car, why not out of towels too?

i use mf cleaners too- not griots though.
sometimes i add a bit of vinegar
dont think simple green will ever see my mfs. a bit too harsh imo. might work if you water it down (as you suggested), but again i think that its worth the extra $$ to keep my mfs nice soft and fluffy with the mf cleaners that i use. the mf cleaner is meant for the job and apcs are kinda general cleaners.

Simple Green is an APC. I only ever used it on wheels/engines, or a few things around the house. Never on fabrics.
I think MF specific cleaners work the best. I can see the left over crud in the washer after it's finished.
I checked, and the microfiber cleaner on Griot's costs more by the gallon than micro-restore does.
Here's the micro-restore from our sponsor. Excellent price. Only stuff I use:

^ aww come on now slanguage... no need to compare the griots stuff to microrestore: chances are they're the same product! just a classic swap-o-the-label from griot's.
i'd def stick to a dedicated MF cleaning product as well. maybe simple green is just as a good. maybe not.
all the money i've spent on towels won't allow me to find out..
