I know of S owners who spray Armorall on the top before they wash the car, and let it sit for 20 minutes to soak in. before washing off and washing the rest of the car. It seems to work for them.

All I've ever done is rinse my top with a strong spray from the hose and keep my car garaged when not in use.

My soft top is still in perfect condition after 6 years.

scotchguard works better on cloth tops (you prob know that ours are not cloth)... not sure what it would do to vinyl, but i would not want to experiment either!

and for cloth tops i like raggtopp for cloth tops-

is adding a protectant even nessesary. what happens if you dont? top fades? i havent see a s2k with a rag top that was faded.
