?Some questions?
just some noob questions see if u guys can help me out... I just got my silverstone S2k about 3 weeks ago and giving it the first wash.
1.I bought some meguiars soap to wash the exterior of the car.. my question is how often do I have to clean the rag top? Can I apply meguiars car wash soap to it? is it better not to just spray it with water? I know they sell products especially for the rag top but do u really have to use them at every car wash or maybe once every so months when its looking dull??? dont really plan on driving the car much, just a weekend car since I work weekdays.
2.after browsing some of the threads I was looking at the leather products. I already bought a product by meguiars. Have not used it though. Its Meguiars gold glass rich leather cleaner/conditioner spray Will this be ok? since I already have it, I want to clean my leather but I dont want to leave a greasy/oil look to it. also I can use this stuff basically all over the interior correct? dash, door panels, shift boot etc etc...
3.my car is garaged kept and some times collects a bit of dust inside (when I leave the windows down) Is there any sort of small soft brushes or dusters I can use for the interior?
thanks guys thumbsup.gif

1. you have to give us more info... how often is the top up? where do you drive- park outside often?
yes you can use car shampoo if the top has "normal" dirt- in fact that is my pref- with a good brush. from your brief description, sounds like car shampoo is your best bet.
the top products are mainly to preserve the top after you wash it. and yes, you need a good one of those
2. the megs is o.k., and far from my first choice- in fact, any combo product wont make it to any of my cars... i use a cleaner first then a conditioner on my leather. and you do need a separate vinyl product
3. several choices here- i usually just use a clean microfiber towel to wipe out the interior. another choice is a good vinyl cleaner with an mf. another choice is a small duster- they make interior dusters... i never got into those, but some guys swear by them
you are welcome, and welcome to the board of wackos!
we look forward to pics of your clean car, and your pm to me for a shiny badge- we know you will be one of us soon!!

1. the top only needs to be washed once every couple months. car wash soap is fine. you might want to invest in either ragg top, 303, or vinylex. i use 303 since it's available locally. wet the top thoroughly with your hose, and scrub it. dry it off, then apply protectant. you don't need to wash it all the time, but i would always apply protectant after a wash.
2. meguair's isn't the best product, but it will do. you might want to look into lexol or townshend products. meguiar's is often kind of greasy, but apply it to your seats, let it sit for a while then buff it out with a microfiber towel. do not use this on your dash, door panels, shift boot. these are all vinly. you can however use it on the leather parts of the car, i.e. door panel insert, steering wheel, etc.
3. you can use a california duster, but i just keep a microfiber towel in the car and wipe it down quickly.
