I use a 100% wool mitt. I agree with Vrm Vrm, get one without the thumb. We have ours custom made by a shepard in the Midwest. I am having him build some without the thumb for our next order. It's funny, he couldn't understand why I wanted them without the thumb. Clearly not a detail guy.

I tried one of the microfiber mits recently and will never use one again. At first, the thing works great, cleaning much better than my sheepskin mit, but once it gets dirty forget it, because it doesn't rinse out. The microfibers hold onto everything like glue and it becomes useless. Like claybar, if it's dropped on the ground, you should throw it away.
Sheepskin is the way to go for me, it won't scratch, very plush and rinses much easier than anything else I've tried.
