I wanted to say thanks for all the tips. I tried everything under the sun and the only thing that ended up working was a bug remover sponge. I was really sceptical about using this because I thought it would leave scratches in the clear coat, but it worked really well with no adverse effects.

 

Thought I'd give it a try. Didn't do it on the stook but tried it on the Miata. It worked like a charm. Does anyone know if this is bad for the paint?

 

When I read the topic name, I just knew you were from Texas. The bugs have been horrible lately. My grill was almost all blocked with grasshopper bodies. I have Dennis's custom grill and I couldn't imagine trying to pick those out of the condensor coils.

I guess between keeping a lot of wax on the front and using, I think, Armor All Bug and Tar remover, I haven't had that much trouble getting them off. I do have to use the "agressive" bug scrubbing sponge.

I just drove from NJ to upstate NY and my front looked almost like it grew beard. - I actually had a photo taken and posted. Anyway, I used a bug & tar remover spray from amway. It worked like a magic. Spray, rub in circular motion with dampend cloth and wash it away. It's a great product.

As stated above - lots of Zymol has helped me out. The trip to Asheville and back was very bad for my car and the Zymol did the trick.

I only wash with plain water and a cotton towel and they come right off after a few passes over the surface.

 

I have a couple coats of P21S on my car and the bugs slide right off.

I had a nice bug beard that sat on the car for about two days. Washed it last night and the little splotches rinsed right off.
