Default Taking Care of 00-01 Plastic window

Ok I heard from people on the forum that they cracked the 00-01 plastic window and i wanted to know how i can prevent this...i heard people talking about putting a cloth in between the folding while the top is down...my question is where does the cloth go exactly?...on the inside of the car where is folds or the outside where it folds? any pics you guys can post with the cloth doing this job while top down?
and also how can i give it that flexibility to prevent the crack?...is 303 aerospace protectant ok?...i know plexus is good for getting the cease out...but is it also good for preventing the crack?
thanks guys

plexus the window regularly...
roll a rag and place it on the outside of the window as you lowered it.

also, use a muz mat or other soft mat on the inside of the car (shelf where the top lies)

finally, use the boot when possible to provide protection to the top when it is down.

this is what i do, and my top looks brand new after 5 years-

______

the cracking is caused by not taking care of the top or by putting the top up or down when the window is really cold.

the mat goes on the inside under the window- it is always there. can be velcroed down if you want.

the rag goes on the outside of the window as you lower the top. lower a little bit, get out and put the rag on the window then finish lowering it.

the boot is the cover that goes over the top when its down.

so is the whole purpose to make the plastic not bend all the way ( to the point where it touches itself)?

correct - to keep it from rubbing on its self and from rubbing on the hard plastic shelf...
and to keep it from folding with a crease.

Oh and don't put it down when it is cold out (near freezing) as that will crach it.

warm up the interior of the car so that it is nice and toasty and then drop it.

All advice above is good. Indeed, I don't lower my top when it is below 60 degrees, and never leave the top down and folded very long when I'm not driving top down.

Here's another idea that has kept my plastic window like new for about six years. Mildly clean both sides. Apply 303 Aerospace Protectant liberally and spread evenly with a sponge. Leave on to soak into the pores as long as possible (the warmer it is, the better this works, but it always works.) When you need to drive the car again, wipe the 303 off with a microfiber. It will have smears. Then, clean off the smears with Plexus. Do this once in a while and your window will remain soft -- which means it is resistant to cracking.
