Default Towel Choice

I need some help please. I recently purchased Zaino and their site suggests using Fieldcrest/Cannon towels to avoid swirl marks.

Well here is the problem. Those towels in white are hard to find especially since the company has gone bankrupt.

I was wondering can anyone tell me another brand that is just as good and does not cause swirl marks.

or

does anyone know a site I can still order those towels.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't even mess with cotton towels anymore. Take a look at www.pakshak.com

The waffle weave is an awesome drying towel and the smaller MF towels are great for removing waxes, polishes and polymers.

What about to apply the soap to the car? Do you guys use the microfiber towels as well or do you just use the MF towel to dry??

Do you guys use Zaino as well? Can you use the microfiber towel to apply the Zaino?

Sorry for all the questions -- I want to do this right.

I usually wash with a Lambswool mitt. I have a few microfiber wash mitts although I think they are to small for my personal tastes.

I use Zaino mostly as a basecoat anymore. That stuff is hard to beat for durability but i'm starting to find I like different things over the top of it like Clearkote's Carnuba Moose or S100. I wouldn't use a big towel to apply Zaino. You can apply Zaino with the cotton covered type sponge they send you. I've also tried MF covered foam pads, terry covered pads and just the plain yellow foam pads. I think you can control the amount of product you put on best by using just a regular Meguiar's yellow foam type applicator. Should be about $1 a piece.

wow, great question bfamazon!
that is the only app that i dont use mf for-
great article by david bynon on this...
conclusion was that the mf "matt" in mf mitts is too short and can trap things that could cause swirls.
like ubetit, i use a lambswool mitt-
and like him, i apply carnuba over the zaino- but zaino is a great base! i use p21s for my carnuba-
and usually use a porter cable machine to apply and remove the zaino- i apply the p21s by hand cause it has to be applied and removed immediately... do sometimes do the removal part by machine.
final buff of the car is always by microfiber towel... even if i have just used a mf bonnet on the macnine- i love the feel of the car after its freshly waxed!

You guys use the lamswool mitt.

The Zaino bros website claims that any wash mitt can cause scratches by trapping the dirt.

Is there anythign special about the lambswool?

Obvisouly, the material is different but is there anything else?

Thanks for all your help

You can also use a Chenille covered mitt but real ones are hard to come by anymore (100% cotton). If you take a strand off a wash mitt and light it with a lighter, it shouldn't turn into a black plastic melted ball.

Zaino is correct, you can trap dirt in any type of wash mitt or sponge. I use two buckets to wash. One with just hot water to rinse the wash mitt off after applying it to the car, the other with the car wash shampoo or QEW in it.

I use regular soft towels, not necessary the real 100% cotton. They work just fine. No swirl marks so far You've gotta be really gentle when wiping down the waxes.
