The best products for vinly / dashboard use are:

1) 303 Aerospace Protectant
2) Lexol vinylex

Both are water based products with very strong UV inhibitors and plasticizers. Will not ruin your dash like armor will.

Lexol is more glossy, 303 more satin.

Try them !!

 

As was mentioned use a clay bar to get the finish smooth. Go here to get an explanation of the grime on your finish.

Hi guys, I I just got my new Black/Red S2000 a few hours ago!!!!!!! I've been reading your posts for the last two months as I waited for my car to arrive. It was hard for me to get rid of the car, but I fell in love with the S2k as soon I first sat on it and had to get it. I read that I should get a good coat of wax as soon as possible. I've also read that Zaino is the best, but where can I get it. I messed up with my last car from the start but I want to make it perfect for this one. Please help

BigCat, I just detailed the heck out of my S2K and I used Meguiars Gold. I am leery of putting a polish of any brand on new paint and am clearly in the minority on this board. I washed the car using Dawn and then dried it using the Absorber. After letting it sit for a while in garage, I used a very soft cotton cloth to slowly go over the paint to find any rough area and used the Mcguiars cleaner to go over those areas including where I removed the dealer's decal. I also eyeballed it quite a bit looking for blemishes. I then put three coats of wax on the paint and it is beautiful and extremely slick. I took a lightly damp cloth to go over the vinyl and then used the Lexol Vinylex. I have had my car about four weeks. When my wife and I drove it through the local classic car show area, I had more looks than when I would drive my Vette through. Of course, most of that is the car, but I did get two complements on the detailing. You can get Meguiars Gold about anywhere.

 

I used Zaino products on my red S2000....great! It was a bit of work, using the claybar first, followed by about 6 coats of the various polishes & sprays. Went to the gym after that & thought my arms would fall off later in the evening!!

Great products! Really work. Just follow the instructions closely.

 

I prefer Zymol, but what each of us use is all personal preference.

I am getting recommendations on 303 from the boating guys at work for vinyls and plastics.

They say that I should treat the top with it and keep it out of the rain for about 24 hours.

For interior use, is it a spray-on-wipe-off treatment, or do you let it sink in a bit? Also, is there much drying or buffing required?

Sounds like 303 is good for rubber as well. I'd probably try it out on the tires before the seals.

It would otherwise sound too good to be true, were it not for its tried-and-true nature in the boating world (huge out here).

Some have said its good for leather too...but I will research that a bit heavier before I risk it.
