At your own risk try Griot's Paint Prep I used it on mine with no problem and it works great for old wax on plastic and rubber. I accidentally got some on my S2000's top and got it off after almost a year with this stuff. I also used it to remove wax from the previous owner of my Porsche on my black vinyl/rubber bumper protectors that had been on there for god know how long. Make sure you apply some protection to your top again afterwards.

Have you ever successfully used this method? I tried it on some trim on one of my old trucks and it looked good for a week or two but when the oils from the peanut butter wore off you could see teh stuff was still there. Could have been my brand of peanut butter.

bass- good tip!

noncrunchy peanut butter is also good for removing tar from vinyl...
and sometimes margarine or butter will do the same thing

btw, if you microwave the pbutter first then apply it with a toothbrush, i find it works better.

I prefer to use 303 Cleaner or amazing Roll-off. Both do a great job of removing wax from vinyl tops and trim. I do not like th PB trick because I believe it is a covere up Vs a removal. From experience, It appears to make th wax disappear but reappears in the futures after the oil disappears
