Default Wax Vs Polish

I gotta ask:

The owner's manual states that wax is preferable to polish when the car is new. (It talks about how polish actually hurts the finish in the long term, or some such).

So why is everyone using a "polish" like Zaino???

Zaino is not a true polish. Polishes have abrasive materials in them to strip an old surface off. Almost like a fine grit sand paper. Zaino has no polishing agents or wax so it is difficult to categorize.
