Default Waxing the soft top

When I wash my car in the winter, when I do not drive it as much, often I just go to the car wash and spray my car down with the selector turned to the wax mode. This gives me warm water and I find that I do not have to rinse the car. I just drive it dry and it looks pretty good for a lazy way to wash the car. My question is, is this bad for the vinyl top, using the wax mode.

can be harmful if you make it a weekly thing. Try not to make it a regular thing as the chemicals from the soap mixture tend to be very abrasive at car washes. I would recommend 303 or Raggtopp or Porsche Tequipment Spray as an alternative. why ? for preserving the longevity of the vinyl. I've had some '00's to work on and they took hours of soaking , cleaning and spraying to re-vitalize them from that "greyish black" to an original black

hope that helps

not sure that i understand what wax mode is...
is it water and wax? or does it also contain soap?

do you soap it, rinse it and then wax mode it?
if its wax and soap together, i agree with simon that not rinsing will not be good for the top- but if its soap and wax its not gonna be good for the paint either if you dont rinse it!

In the wax mode there is no soap. You can tell there is something in the water when you are in wax mode. I assume it is some sort of liquid wax. The reason I use the wax mode is that it uses warm water, whereas the rinse only mode is cold water. Sometimes I will use the soap water first, then rinse in the wax mode. I don't really think the wax adheres to the paint as I can never really tell that the car has been "waxed" when it dries. It is just nice and more efficient with the warm water "rinse" with no soap. It has worked really well to remove dried bird poop in the past. I was just worried if possible wax residue could harm the top. I have not noticed any discoloration. My top is still really black.
